Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fix out-of-sync subtitles?

Upload your .srt file to Subtitleiy, enter the number of seconds to shift (use a positive number to delay subtitles or a negative number to make them appear earlier), preview the changes, and download the corrected file. The entire process takes under 10 seconds.

Can I translate SRT subtitle files for free?

Yes! Subtitleiy offers 3 free subtitle translations per day. We support over 30 languages including Arabic, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Portuguese, Russian, and many more.

What subtitle format does Subtitleiy support?

Subtitleiy works with .srt (SubRip Subtitle) files — the most widely used subtitle format. SRT files work with virtually every video player including VLC, Plex, Kodi, MPC-HC, and streaming platforms.

Is my subtitle file stored on your servers?

No. For timestamp shifting, your file never leaves your browser. For translation, only the text content is sent to our server (via HTTPS) for processing. We never store your subtitle files or translated content.

Why is there a daily translation limit?

Translation has running costs on our end. To keep Subtitleiy free for everyone, we limit translations to 3 per day per user. Timestamp shifting is unlimited since it runs entirely in your browser.

Can I shift subtitles by milliseconds?

Absolutely! The shift input accepts decimal values. For example, enter 1.5 to shift subtitles forward by one and a half seconds, or -0.3 to bring them earlier by 300 milliseconds.
